From the shadows beneath the circus tent, a group of players emerges to tell the story of Pippin, the son of Charlemagne in the Holy Roman Empire. The players showcase Pippin’s struggle to find meaning and fulfillment in his life as he explores war, flesh, politics and eventually the everyday ordinary. Accented with dazzling circus acts and spectacular feats of acrobatics, Pippin’s story is one all can relate to, and the players, especially The Leading Player, are committed to nothing more than putting on a show can keeping that show afloat – and nothing will stand in their way. PIPPIN is presented by Acting Against Cancer in collaboration with CirqueLouis and is an unprecedented partnership in the Louisville area. The show will run August 23-31 at Art Sanctuary, 1433 S. Shelby St., and tickets are $22 in advance or $24 at the door.
